1 REPLICA FEATHER BALLS: Replica Feather Balls for play or display. These are actually round, much nicer and HALF the price of the Phil Mason replicas made during the early 1990's. They also come in an individual box and are serial numbered. The literature says they are PLAYABLE. $30

2 KEMPSHALL ARLINGTON BRAMBLE "Kempshall Mfg. Co. Arlington" and "Pat. April 11, 1899" surrounding "1906" on the other. To my knowledge, Kempshall made the only balls to be stamped with a large manufacture date. 80% original paint and two bad cuts in the gutta percha cover. Overall G-5 $250

3 KEMPSHALL ARLINGTON BRAMBLE "Kempshall Mfg. Co. Arlington" on one pole and "Pat. April 11, 1899" surrounding "1907" on the other. To my knowledge, Kempshall made the only balls to be stamped with a large manufacture date. 70% original paint and a few moderate iron marks. G-5 $290.

4 KEMPSHALL ARLINGTON BRAMBLE "Kempshall Mfg. Co. Arlington" on one pole and "Pat. April 11, 1899" surrounding "1907" on the other. To my knowledge, Kempshall made the only balls to be stamped with a large manufacture date. 80% original paint and only a few minor iron marks. G-6 $350.

5 KEMPSHALL ARLINGTON BRAMBLE "Kempshall Mfg. Co. Arlington" on one pole and "Pat. April 11, 1899" surrounding "1907" on the other. To my knowledge, Kempshall made the only balls to be stamped with a large manufacture date. 90% original paint and a few minor scuffs and iron marks. G-7 $450.

6 THE PNEUMATIC BRAMBLE "The Pneumatic" on each hemisphere at the equator with "Pat. Aug. 19, 1902" and "Goodyear Arrow" on the poles. The covers were made of a soft rubbery material that gives a "sandy" appearance. (See photos in "Encyc." P-34 and my book P-205). Some scuffs and paint voids. A very scarce collectible ball. G-5 $290.

7 THE PNEUMATIC BRAMBLE "The Pneumatic" and "Pat. Aug. 19, 1902" on the poles of this Goodyear made bramble. The covers were made of a soft rubbery material that gives a "sandy" appearance. (See photos in "Encyc." P-34 and my book P-205). This ball is virtually unused and has good pole markings. A very scarce American made ball. Overall G-7 $590

  8 WRAPPED DUNLOP BALLS Individually wrapped "Dunlop 65 Recessed" balls with black wrapper with red, black and gold printing on the seal. These are most likely small balls from the late 1960's. G-10 $15.

  9 A. E. PENFOLD Individually wrapped "Autographed Bromford" Penfold balls in clear wrapper with red printing on the silver seal. These are most likely from the late 1930's. G-10 $65.

 10 SPALDING NEEDLED Individually wrapped "Spalding Needled Top-Flite" balls silver printing on a light and dark blue seal with clear plastic wrapping. Circa 1930's and mint new. G-10 See P-220 my book. $70.

 11 A E PENFOLD Individually wrapped "Pendold Ace" small size ball with a blue wrapper and colorful seal. Circa 1960's mint. G-10 $15.

 12 DUNLOP BLUE FLASH Individually wrapped "Dunlop Blue Flash" small size ball with a light blue wrapper and dark blue and gold seal. Circa 1930's mint. G-10 $75

 13 DUNLOP MESH A nice mesh pattern ball circa late 1920's-early 30's with "Dunlop" and "England" at the poles. The red #3 is on the ball 12 times. G-7 $65.

 14 WRAPPED DUNLOP BALLS A dozen Ball Box of "Dunlop 65 Recessed for the Expert" with six wrapped balls inside. The box has 3 small auction stickers, otherwise it is G-6+ 7 pieces total. $120.

 15 A. E. PENFOLD "Autographed Bromford" Dozen Box with four Individually wrapped "Autographed Bromford" Penfold balls in clear wrapper with red printing on the silver seal. These are most likely from the late 1930's. Balls are G-10, Box is G-5. $290

 16 A E PENFOLD A near mint empty Dozen Box stamped "Penfold" with a photo of the "A E Pendold" small size ball on a dark blue box. Circa 1960's and virtually mint. G-9 $40

 17 DUNLOP BLUE FLASH A DOZEN BOX with four Individually wrapped "Dunlop Blue Flash" small size balls with a light blue wrapper and dark blue and gold seal. Circa 1930's. Balls are G-10, box is G-6, however the lid has come apart from bottom. Still quite nice. $275

 18 CIRCA 1920'S-30'S DIMPLES: SIX dimple balls including a Wright & Ditson Birdie, Royal small ball, Wilson Hol-Hi, US 444 and two Spalding Dot. All average G-4 to G-5 $50.

 19 AL GEIBERGER A Spalding made, circa 1962 signature ball with "Al Geiberger" and "Spalding" the only stamps. This is earliest signature ball according to Biocini. G-9 $25.

 20 JOHNNY REVOLTA Signature ball circa 1964 "Northwestern, Solid Construction" in red on equator. "Johnny Revolta" and "Championship" on the poles. G-9++ $35.

  1 ANDERSON, JAMES, ANSTRUTHER, SCOTLAND: An outstanding left handed straight blade Putter with Box-Dot border on either side of hyphen scoring. "Made in Scotland" above a full, bold "Anderson, Anstruther" circle stamp. Replacement wrapped leather grip on the original shaft. G-8 $90

  2 AYRES, F H, LONDON, ENGLAND: "The Birco Putter" below Ayres "Maltese Cross" maker's mark at the toe. "D Bennet, St. Andrews" also on the back of this circa 1920's line scored straight blade. G-7 $80

  3 BREEZE, G BRODIE, GLASGOW, SCOTLAND: "Excelsior Putter" with the "Royal Crown Brand" mark at toe of a circa 1910 off set blade with hyphen scoring. Replacement grip over original looking shaft. Very scarce maker! $150

 4 GIBSON, WILLIAM, EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND: A scarce circa 1900 smooth face specialty club that looks like an Approaching Putter stamped "Wm. Gibson, Maker, Edinburgh" on the back. The very shallow face has the loft of a Cleek and the back and wide sole resemble a Gem putter. The ASH shaft is a recent replacement with a wrapped leather grip. Gibson clubs from his Edinburgh forge are quite scarce! G-6 $145.00

  5 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: A dot punched, circa 1915 "Putting Iron" with Gibson's "Star" mark. Repair to the shaft. G-7 $55

  6 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: A nice "Arthur Brown, Harry Vardon" crescent shaped Putter with dots in a "Pyramid" on the face. The head is also stamped "Army & Navy Hold Fast, London" and has the Gibson's "Star". The hosel and shaft are oval and the original sheep skin grip is a bit tattered at the bottom. A nice example of this highly collectible Putter. G-7 $250

7 NEILSON, J, MUSSELBURGH: A circa 1910-1915 dot punched face "Putting Cleek" stamped "J Neilson, Musselburgh". Replacement shaft with a wrapped leather grip. A very scarce and seldom offered maker. G-5 $110.00

  8 NICOLL, GEORGE, LEVEN, SCOTLAND: A "Special Whippet" Putter circa 1920 with a bordered hyphen face. "Geo. Nicoll, Leven, Fife" in a football shaped double oval below the "George Nicoll" signature. Shaft is a replacement. Hosel is of standard length. G-6 $75

  9 PARK, WILLIE, MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND: "Patent" and a partial "Wm Park" mark on a circa 1900 bent neck blade Putter. Shaft and grip are replacements. Head is rusted. G-4 $90

 10 SPALDING, DYSART, FIFE, SCOTLAND A "Wry Neck Putter" having an alternating hyphen and dot punched face. "Dysart-Fife" and the "Anvil" mark on the back. Original shaft, replaced grip. G-7 $75

 11 UNKNOWN MAKER: A circa 1905 "Calamity Jane" type smooth face Putter without any markings. G-5 $55

 12 UNKNOWN MAKER: A nice circa 1900-1910 smooth, deep face blade with two four leaf clovers (not Spalding's) at heel and toe and a large thistle inside an oval with "Thistle" in block lettering. G-7 $90.

ALUMINUM "MILLS" TYPE MALLET PUTTERS

 13 CANN & TAYLOR, LONDON, ENGLAND: A "Mills" type aluminum head with "Model 'F'" and "10.14", signifying the weight in ounces, on the bottom. "J H Taylor, Reg. # 607239" is stamped above and below the unusual raised "sight" line on the head. There is a chip out of the hosel and a crack to the hosel pin on one side. Head and stampings are good, hosel is the only problem. G-5 $175.

 14 CASSIDY, J L, ALDBURGH: An aluminum head mallet Putter with a raised "V" sightline. The hosel is sound. The grip is a replacement wrapped leather. A scarce Patented Putter circa 1915-20. G-7 $115

 15 STANDARD GOLF CO, SUNDERLAND, ENGLAND: "Braid-Mills Model" Putter with a Medium Lie. All markings are deep and bold. The hosel is sound. Replaced grip on the original shaft. G-6+ $75

 16 STANDARD GOLF CO, SUNDERLAND, ENGLAND: "The New Mills Ray Model, Upright Lie" stamped on the sole. Sound hosel, original shaft and replacement grip. G-6 $75

 17 SPALDING, USA: A ball face, slightly off set blade putter. Nice for display. G-7 $75.

 18 SPALDING, USA: "F W A" are the only markings on this Willie Park style bent neck Putter most likely made by Spalding circa 1900. Grip is a replacement. G-7. $95.00

 19 SPALDING, USA: "The Spalding" on head and shaft of a circa 1898-1900 severely bent neck Park style Putter. Grip is a period type replacement. Shaft is a little short as made. Many players used a wide stance while bending and requested shorter shafts. G-6 $135.

 20 UNKNOWN MAKER: No markings on head or shaft. Face design on both sides. Shaft and grip are one piece wood and painted black. Probably a carpet game or parlor putter. G-5 $75

 21 UNKNOWN MAKER: "1932" stamped on the toe of an otherwise unmarked two way blade Putter with five deep lines in the center of both sides. Most likely used for Putt-Putt or miniature golf. G-7 $75

 22 WILSON, THOMAS E, CHICAGO, IL: "Johnny Farrell Matched Models D-1001" on a circa 1930 blade Putter. G-7 $60

 23 WILSON, THOMAS E, CHICAGO, IL: A nice "Model Six, Plus Success" flanged back Putter with an interesting bordered square punched face. "Putter" in block letters on the wide sole. G-7 $65.

 24 DUNN, WILLIE, NEW YORK: A circa 1900 smooth face brass blade Putter with "Colonial" in fancy scrolling on the back. Shaft is stamped "213". Grip is a period type replacement. Nicer than it sounds. G-6 $95.

 25 UNKNOWN MAKER: A smooth face Brass blade Putter similar to the Leslie Putter with a step down back. Circa 1910-1915 without any back markings. Original shaft with a replacement grip. G-6 $75

 26 ANDERSON, ANDERSON & ANDERSON, LONDON: The RARE "Lion and Globe" and the tiny "Anderson of Anstruther" circle mark on the back of a circa 1900 smooth face Cleek. This massive mark is rarely found full; this one is struck up at the perimeters and not in the centers with both "Globes" nearly fully struck up. Original shaft with a replacement grip over original listings. Quite a scarce club. G-6 PHOTO $235.00

 27 ANDERSON, JAMES, ANSTRUTHER, SCOTLAND: Circa 1890 rounded toe General Purpose Iron with Jamie Anderson's tiny "A of A" circle mark. Top of blade and hosel join are square indicating a circa 1890 forging. Original looking lance woodshaft with a tatterered but original looking sheep skin grip. G-6 + $275

 28 ANDERSON, JOE, PERTH: Large "OK" monogram maker's mark on a nice circa 1920's "Rustless Mashie". G 7+ $65

 29 ANDERSON, JOE, PERTH: "Joe Anderson, Perth" on a circa 1905-1910 smooth, deep face Cleek. All original with "Anderson, Perth" stamped on the shaft below the sheep skin grip. G-6 $85.

 30 ANDERSON, LONDON: "Lion and Globe" mark on a smooth face Cleek. This massive mark is rarely found full; this one is struck up at the perimeters G-6 $190

 31 ANDERSON OF ANSTRUTHER, SCOTLAND: "W B McMeekin, Vale-of-Leven" on back of a circa 1915-20 "Iron" with the large "Circle" mark. "Arrow" maker's mark pointing towards toe. Replaced shaft. G-7 $70.00

 32 ANDERSON OF ANSTRUTHER, SCOTLAND: An outstanding "Rustless Mashie" with "Andersons Imperial" below a large "Crown" mark. The heel and toe are "beveled" to give the iron a mussel back appearance. Appears to be all original. A great looking iron for display. G-8+. $70

 35 AYRES, F H, LONDON, ENGLAND: An outstanding circa 1915-1920 all original "Deep Face Mashie" with a dot punched face. The Ayres "Maltese Cross" mark is at the toe. G-8 $70.00

 36 AYRES, F H, LONDON, ENGLAND: An outstanding "Deep Face Mashie" with the "Maltese Cross" mark at the toe. "Archie Compston" and "Staynorus" also on the back. Shaft is a replacement. G-7+ $70

 37 AYRES, F H, LONDON, ENGLAND: A circa 1890 Cleek marked "B C" and "F H Ayres". The head is delicately made and the "B C" may stand for Boy's Cleek. Original shaft with a replacement grip. $175.

 41 BRAND, CHARLES, CARNOUSTIE, SCOTLAND: "C Brand, Carnoustie" on both head and shaft of an all original circa 1910 Cleek with "Criss-cross" face scoring. Head & shaft are outstanding, the grip a bit rough. G-7 $90

 42 BRUNSWICK, LONDON AND PARIS: A seldom offered "Hand Forged, Made In Scotland Mashie" with Brunswick's "Propeller" mark and "37" at the toe. Shaft and grip are originals. Face is line scored. G-7 $85.00

 43 BUSSEY & CO, LONDON, ENGLAND: "Patented Steel Socket" (1890) and "Thistle" below "Bussey & Co., London" on a smooth face Mashie. The steel socket "Seam" is clearly visible on the hosel. "Mashie" stamped into the original shaft below the replacement period type sheep skin grip. Clubs just like this one were bringing £200. at the British auctions. G-6 $275.00

 44 COCHRANE'S LT'D, EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND: An outstanding "Lofter" with the "Knight" mark. All original and a great looking club. G-8+ $75

 45 CONDIE, ROBERT, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: A nice Lofter with "Diamond-Dot" face scoring. "A Herd, Huddersfield" surrounds Condie's "Flower" mark. Original shaft with a period all weather grip. G-7 $75

 46 CONDIE, ROBERT, ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND: Circa 1905-1910 smooth face with "I" at the toe signifying "Iron". "J B Lawson, Sunderland" surrounds Condie's "Flower" stamp. Looks all original. G-6 $85

 55 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: "Army & Navy C S L Holdfast, London" along with Gibson's "Star" mark on a smooth face circa 1910 Iron. Reshafted and has a brass hosel pin. G-5+ $65

 56 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: "Geo Duncan, The Akros Model Mashie" with Gibson's stamp, "Superior" and "Star" mark. The hosel is odd set and the face lined. G-7 $65

 57 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: Gibson's "Star" mark at the toe of a circa 1920's dot faced flanged back and off set hosel "2 Iron" made for "Jack White, Sunningdale". Looks all original. G-6 $75.00

 63 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: An interesting off set hosel "Genni Model Mashie" with a dot face and notched blade-hosel join similar to the "Ping" irons of today. Appears all original and is a nice collectible club. G-7 $85

 64 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: Circa 1915 "Mashie Niblick" with stampings. "Special"; the "Star" mark; "Wm Gibson, Kinghorn, Scotland; H Logan's; The Genii Model; Made in Scotland; Horton; Reg No. 22170; Hand Forged in Scotland". All original with a slightly warped shaft. G-6 $85

 65 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: An outstanding circa 1920 line scored "Maxwell Driving Iron" with 12 wrap around holes drilled in the hosel to eliminate hosel weight in an effort to make the head feel heavier. All original and a nice conversation invoking club. G-8 $90

 66 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: An "Akros Model Mashie-niblick" with "George Duncan, Hanger Hill" in an oval next to Gibson's "Star" mark. It has a dot punched face and off set hosel. G-7 $95

 67 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: A "Maxwell Niblick" with a flanged sole and 12 holes drilled in groups of three vertically into the hosel. Shaft is a replacement. This will make a very playable sand iron with the flanged sole as well as an unusual collectible. G-7 $125

 68 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: An unusual "Maxwell" hosel "Mashie" with a flanged back. There are 22 holes drilled in the hosel; two vertical rows of six and two of five. Most Maxwell hosels have ten wrap around holes. The holes were drilled to remove hosel weight. This made the head feel heavier thus giving more "Feel" to the shot. Shaft and grip appear original. $150.

 69 GOURLAY, JAMES, CARNOUSTIE, SCOTLAND: A circa 1910 "Deep Face Mashie" in the Taylor style with the "Crescent and Star" mark and a dot punched face probably added by the owner to the original smooth face. Shaft appears to be an original with a wrapped leather replacement grip. G-6 $75.00

 71 HUNTER, CHARLES, PRESTWICK: A seldom offered "C Hunter, Prestwick" stamped Iron with line scoring most likely added at a later date to the original smooth face. Replacement period type grip over the original shaft. G-7 $95

 72 JOHNSON, FRANK: A outstanding circa 1905 medium size smooth face "Niblick" with only Johnson's "Key" maker's mark. A nice collectible Niblick. G-8 $190

194 GIBSON, WILLIAM, KINGHORN, SCOTLAND: "Smith's Model Mashie-Niblick" and "Superior Rustless" below the "Star" mark on a nice heel and toe weighted Anti-shank iron with a severe hosel crook. There is a small five pointed "Star" stamped into the shaft. The head looks virtually mint! G-8+ $275.

195 ANDERSON, ROBERT AND SONS, EDINBURGH: A circa early 1890's spliced neck Bulger Brassie with a pear shaped head and full leather face. "Anderson & Sons, Princes St, Edinburgh" is boldly stamped on the golden Beech head. There is a period type replacement grip on a "ringed" ASH shaft. A nice collectible. G-7+ $490

196 BUTCHART, CUTHBERT, WESTCHESTER, NY: A nice circa 1915 lofted Spoon with "C Butchart" on the two tone head. Sole is covered with a full brass sole plate. Looks playable. G-7 $175.
