BRAMBLE PATTERN COVER BALLS

April 11, 1899" on the poles. Nearly full original paint with only a few minor iron marks and scuffs. Photo P-204 of my book. G-6 PHOTO $600. BALLS 5 HASKELL PATENT BRAMBLE Circa 1900 Gutta Percha cover with "Haskell Pat. April 11, 1899" in a large double circle on poles. About 75% paint and has several cover cracks, but none exposing the rubber windings. A RARE early American collectible. G-3 PHOTO $490. BALLS 6 KEMPSHALL ARLINGTON BRAMBLE "Kempshall Mfg. Co. Arlington" and "Pat. April 11, 1899" surrounding "1906" on the other. To my knowledge, Kempshall made the only balls to be stamped with a large manufacture date. 80% original paint and two bad cuts in the gutta percha cover. Overall G-5 $290. BALLS 7 KEMPSHALL ARLINGTON BRAMBLE "Kempshall Mfg. Co. Arlington" on one pole and "Pat. April 11, 1899" surrounding "1907" on the other. To my knowledge, Kempshall made the only balls to be stamped with a large manufacture date. 70% original paint and a few moderate iron marks. G-5 $290. BALLS 8 KEMPSHALL ARLINGTON BRAMBLE "Kempshall Mfg. Co. Arlington" on one pole and "Pat. April 11, 1899" surrounding "1906" on the other. BALLS 11 SIGNATURE BALLS "Oscar Havekotte, Tournament" and "Endicott Johnson". They came in four colors: This one imprinted in black is in the original wrapper. $45 BALLS 12 SIGNATURE BALLS A "Set" of FOUR mint new signature dimple balls imprinted "Oscar Havekotte, Tournament" and "Endicott Johnson". These came in four colors: red, green, black and blue. One of each color is represented in this group, all are mint new, black and green are in original wrappers. $200 BALLS 13 SPALDING WHITE BRAMBLE "Spalding White" with Red center dot and "Pat. April 11, 99" on the poles. Circa 1906-1910 with celluloid cover and 60% original paint . Strong pole markings. G-5 $190. G-6 $250 BALLS 15 THE PNEUMATIC BRAMBLE "The Pneumatic" on each hemisphere at the equator with "Pat. Aug. 19, 1902" and "Goodyear Arrow" on the poles. The covers were made of a soft rubbery material that gives a "sandy" appearance. (See photos in "Encyc." P-34 and my book P-205). Some scuffs and paint voids. G-5 $290. BALLS 16 THE PNEUMATIC BRAMBLE "The Pneumatic" on each hemisphere at the equator with "Pat. Aug. 19, 1902" and "Goodyear Arrow" on the poles. The covers were made of a soft rubbery material that gives a "sandy" appearance. (See photos in "Encyc." P-34 and my book P-205). Virtually mint, but has some paint voids. G-6 $390. BALLS 17 THE PNEUMATIC BRAMBLE "The Pneumatic" and "Pat. Aug. 19, 1902" on the poles of this Goodyear made bramble. The covers were made of a soft rubbery material that gives a "sandy" appearance. (See photos in "Encyc." P-34 and my book P-205). This ball is virtually unused, but has weak pole markings due to the softness of the cover. A very scarce American made ball. Overall G-6+ $490. BALLS 18 THE PNEUMATIC BRAMBLE "The Pneumatic" and "Pat. Aug. 19, 1902" on the poles of this Goodyear made bramble. The covers were made of a soft rubbery material that gives a "sandy" appearance. (See photos in "Encyc." P-34 and my book P-205). This ball is virtually mint with unusually bold pole markings. A very scarce American made ball. G-8+ $2250. BALLS 19 SPALDING, USA: Spalding's earliest DIMPLE pattern ball circa 1905 with "Pat. April 11, 99" and "Spalding Dimple" on the poles. Good pole markings, but the Gutta Percha cover cracked and has a glue repair. Overall not a bad display ball worthy of better than G-3 for a grade. A RARE ball. $75. BALLS 20 SPALDING, USA: Spalding's earliest DIMPLE pattern ball circa 1906-10 with a couple of minor iron marks. "Pat. April 11, 99" and "Spalding Dimple" on the poles. Good pole markings on a celluloid cover. About 40% of the original paint remains. A very scarce early Spalding ball. G-5+ $75.
