LOT.....61.....LUNN & CO LONG NOSE. An interesting circa 1890-95 Transitional Beech head Play Club with "Lunn & Co.", and their "Crossed Clubs Balfor" stamp. Shaft and grip look like originals. What makes this club so interesting, the owner must have been fed up with replacing the splice whippings and had a club maker (or plumber) cover the whipping with a COPPER SLEEVE eight inches long. Not only will the whipping stay in place, the scare was made absolutely unbreakable. A great conversation piece! Head is G-6, shaft (above the copper) and grip are G-8+ $800-1250
LOT.....62.....MC EWAN TRANSITIONAL BRASSIE circa 1895 with a full brass sole plate. "Mc Ewan" accross the honey colored head. Shaft is stamped "D Mc Ewan & Sons, Musselburgh". Old sheep skin grip is a bit tattered. G-6 $375-700

LOT.....64.....McEWAN SHORT SPOON C-1880. The long face has is well lofted and hooked. A full brass sole plate has been added that shows very little evidence of play. Old whipping may be original. Grip is an old sheep skin. Owner's enitial "D" on the dark stained beech head. Came with the Morris. Nice club! $1500-2500
LOT.....65.....VIRTUALLY MINT TOM MORRIS MID SPOON C-1880. Exhibits virtually no play. The dark stained beech head, with "T Morris" bold and clear, is slightly lofted and hooked. Owner's enitial "D" above the Morris stamp. Full brass sole plate added and shows virtually no evidence of play. Came with the McEwan. A nice example! $1900-3200.
LOT.....66.....MITCHESON LONG NOSE PLAY CLUB circa 1885-1890 with a slightly hooked faced. "W L Mitcheson" on the head and shaft. The whippings at the grip and splice appear to be original. G-8 $850-1500
LOT.....67.....F H AYRES LONG NOSE BRASSIE circa 1885-90 with a hooked face and ram's horn between the face and full brass sole plate. "F H Ayres" boldly stamped on the golden Beech head and the hickory shaft below an original looking sheep skin grip. Splice whipping is a well done replacement. G-7+ $900-1500
LOT.....68.....NICE ROBERT FORGAN PLAY CLUB circa 1885 with "R Forgan" above the weak POW "Plume" stamp. Splice whipping is a well done replacement with the original shaft stamped "R Forgan & Sons, St. Andrews" below a very nice sheep skin grip. The face has a very well done leather face insert that looks like it may be original to protect the delicate Beech face from the harsh blows to the Guttie. A nice display club. G-7 $1400-2200
LOT.....69.....NICE R FORGAN LONG SPOON in dark stained beech C-1865 with "R Forgan" in large letters above their Prince Of Wales "Plume" stamp. There is an old collector's label on the sole that adds character. There are supposedly less than thirty Forgan Long Nose Clubs known to be in collector's hands bearing the large letter stamp. G-7 $1600-2500
LOT.....70.....J ANDERSON PLAYCLUB with dark stained beech head. There is a leather toe insert and a small chip from the face above the horn slip. The grip is Kid Skin. Very scarce and desirable. G-7 $1600-2500
LOT.....71.....BGI ONE PIECE with leather face insert and Rampant Lion stamp on the head. The shaft has a slight bend and the original grip is weathered and slightly short. Head and shaft "BGI" stamps are bold. G-7 $1400-2400
LOT.....72.....RARE ONE PIECE WOOD never finished. This unique piece has no back weight, no sole "slip", never had a grip and NEVER HIT A BALL! Opinions of several "experts" are the club was made but an order was never placed for it, and consequently never "finished". The factory where Dunn worked could have been closed, or it was shipped to a "Professional" for him to "finish" and sell. A great example of early American craftsmanship. RARE club! G-10 $1500-3000
LOT.....73.....SUPERB PARK BRASSIE stamped "Wm Park's, Patent, Compressed Head" with a small leather face insert as made and a full brass sole plate. An apprentice must have stamped this shaft since he used the same stamp (oval) for the shaft as he did for the head. The grip is virtually MINT and perfect! This club looks MINT NEW! G-9+ $700-1200
LOT.....74.....DISH FACED BUNKER IRON with a 4 1/2 inch long, very heavy, thick (65 mm at pin), saw tooth nicked hosel. The top of blade and hosel join is squared indicating a pre-1890's forging. Touted as being forged during the early half of the 19th Century. The repaired ASH shaft has about eight inches of whipping. Bunker irons from the late feather ball period traditionally bring between $3000-5000. G-5 $1300-2500
LOT.....75.....RARE JOHN GRAY GENERAL IRON with a long, hooked, dished face and five inch hosel with saw tooth nicking. A patch of rust nearly obliterates the "Y" in "Jn Gray". A dramatic circa 1870's club with original looking shaft and sheep skin grip. G-6 $950-1500
LOT.....76.....SMALL HEAD BRASS LOFTER circa 1880 with the "squared" top of blade and hosel join indicatave of a pre-1895 forging. Brass head irons prior to 1900 are quite scarce, if not RARE. The shaft hole in the hosel is very thin on one side and thick on the other requiring a hand made shaft, thus the existing shaft/hosel are not perfect. No name on the head, however most likely made by Willie Wilson. $350-600
LOT.....77.....GOOD TRUE RUT IRON c-1880-1885 with the top of blade and hosel join sharply squared. No stampings visible on the back, indicating this may be a Blacksmith made head. The hosel PIN is placed 45 degrees between the normal position and the top of the hosel, which has saw tooth nicking. Grip is a nice old sheep skin. G-7 $1000-1600.
LOT.....78.....GOOD ANDERSON GENERAL IRON. An early General Purpose Iron circa 1870, the large head having a hooked face and thick hosel. The top of blade and hosel join are squared off indicative of early hand forgings. The hosel had long jagged saw tooth nicking which was trimmed when the shaft, bearing Forgan's stamp, was replaced. Anderson's tiny mark is faintly identifyable on the back. A nice example of Andreson's early forgings. G-6 $375-600
LOT.....79.....MID-19th CENTURY GENERAL IRON with squared top of blade and hosel join. The thick hosel is five inches long and has saw tooth nicking. A late feather ball era example most likely C-1860-70. Grip and shaft are replacements. G-6+ $500-1000
LOT.....80.....GOOD 19th CENTURY GENERAL IRON in the John Gray style with large dished face and squared top of blade and hosel join. The hosel pin, barely visible, is high near the nicking also is an indication it is much earlier than the Clan and Ayers irons of 1890. Old sheep skin grip over old listings on a nice, original looking, hickory shaft. My best conservative guess is 1860-70. A nice addition to even an advanced collection. G-7 $600-1000
LOT.....81.....BLACKSMITH IRON C-1850-65 with forging striations visible on back and face as well as hammering marks on the slightly hooked face. The long hosel nicking has been trimmed. On early blacksmith made clubs the heavy nicking was hammered down to secure the shaft before the use of a hosel pin. The tradition was carried on throughout the feather ball era even after adding a pin was common practice. As a result, when a broken shaft was removed from the hosel, the repairman had to trim away the nicking in order to remove the shaft. Nice period shaft and grip. G-6 $750-125
LOT.....82.....MINT ERNEST JONES PRACTICE CLUB circa 1933. The shaft sticker is 100% FULL and the "Spring" still exhibits ALL the original green paint. G9+++ $600-1000

LOT.....84.....EARLY ANDERSON CLEEK with partially readable tiny "A of A Circle" stamp. Old shaft has some whipping, most likely over a repair and the old grip looks 1890's. The head is made in the old blacksmith style and should be C-1860-70. G-7 $300-500
LOT.....85.....GOOD CARRICK CLEEK C-1875-85 Cleek with partial "F & A Carrick, Musselburgh" stamp and a strong "Cross" stamp. The shaft is an old, well done in period replacement with an old Park style wrapped leather grip. A nice Carrick for the budget minded. G-6 $400-700
LOT.....86.....OUTSTANDING CARRICK. A General Purpose Iron c-1880 with a full "F & A Carrick, Musselburgh" stamp and a deep "Cross" mark beneath. The shaft is an early in period replacement and the grip is an old sheep skin. For the discriminating collector! G-7++ $750-1250
LOT.....87.....RARE JN GRAY CLEEK C-1870 with five inch saw tooth nicked hosel and "Jn Gray" on the back. The old hickory shaft has a sheep skin grip, tattered and partially missing near the bottom exposing old wool underlisting. Overall a good collectible. G-6 $700-1250
