LOT #1.....A SCARCE SLAZENGER MALLET. "Slazenger" in block letters on a circa 1905-1910 shallow head aluminum mallet with a cross hatched face. Shaft appears to be the original with a replacement grip over old listing. One hosel crack keeps this out of the "most desirable" class. G-6 $125-250
LOT #2.....SCARCE TAYLOR ALUMINUM PUTTER. A "Mills" type aluminum head with "Model 'F'" and "10.14", signifying the weight in ounces, on the bottom. "J H Taylor, Reg. # 607239" is stamped above and below the unusual raised "sight" line on the head. There is a chip out of the hosel and a crack to the hosel pin on one side. Head and stampings are good. G-5 $120-200
LOT #3.....A PATENTED HUNTLEY PUTTER with aluminum head and THUMB SLOT GRIP c-1920. Shaft has a "St Andrews Bend". Face was retolled and lead, like the "Youds" patent, added to the face. G-5 $80-140.
LOT #4.....WINTON ALUMINUM MALLET. "W Winton Special" on the head of a Mills type head. #4 and "Flat Lie" are on the sole. The hosel is sound. G-7 $80-150.
LOT #5.....A SCARCE BUNNY PUTTER "Bunny" Putter with large circular brass weight in center of head. A Bunny is stamped jumping into the hole on the brass circular weight. Small crack between sole weight and face. G-6 $80-140.
LOT #6.....A RANDALL PATENTED PUTTER with an aluminum head. The face has eleven circular lead weights. G-7 $120-200
LOT #7.....LONG NOSE VULCANITE HEAD stamped "UK Pat. 323897" on the sole and fitted with a STEEL SHAFT having a "St. Andrews Bend" See P-87, The Vintage Era of Golf Club Collectibles, by Ronald John (You can order this book through me). He values it at $750.00. The patent stamp on the bottom is very light owing to the fact that on Mr. John's example, only "Pat" and "389" are readable. $300-600

LOT #9.....A NICE SCHENECTADY PUTTER with "Pat. Mar. 24, 1903" stamped on the back and "12.5 oz" on the sole. Looks circa 1910 with old leather grip that looks original. A nice collectible. G-8 $225-375
LOT #10.....A SEVERELY OFF SET PUTTER similar to the William Lowe as described and pictured in "Ellis" P-182. Unusual shaped head with the hosel extended to the blade. G-6+ $250-450
LOT #11.....GIBSON ANTI-SHANK PUTTER. An outstanding Anti-Shank Putter with heel and toe weighting bulges and a crook in the hosel. Reshafted, otherwise it would rate a SUPERB grade. G-7++ $140-275
LOT #12.....A PARK STYLE BGI PUTTER. Severly off set hosel with BGI's oval mark. Shaft is a replacement and the grip has been built up. G-5 $90-150
LOT #13.....NICE COLUMBIA SPECIAL FLANGED BACK with large flange and Burke's flower marks. G-7 $60-100
LOT #14.....A SCARCE DANDY PUTTER circa 1915-20 with a flanged back. "J & W Craigie, Montrose" and their "rifle" mark on the back. Hosel and shaft are oval shaped. A nice unusual putter. G-7 $100-200
LOT #15.....ANDERSON PATENT PUTTER. Outstanding "Anderson Special Putting Cleek, Rd No 277771" with the heel marked "8569" with off set blade similar to Taylor's twisted hosel Putter. Stamps are deep and bold. Original shaft with a replacement leather grip. G-8 $150-300
LOT #16.....ANTI-SHANK VARSITY PUTTER with heel and toe weighting and and Anti-shank hosel. Gibson's "Star" mark is at the toe. Underrated and seldom offered as I've had only two in inventory over the past eight years. Replacement grip. G-6+ $120-200
LOT #17.....A SEVERELY OFF SET BLADE with Frank Johnson's "Key" mark. Looks all original and a very interesting putter. G-6+ $140-250
LOT #18.....AN OUTSTANDING "ORION PUTTER" with Gibson's "Star" mark and "Registered No. 348291" on the sole. "The Orion, James Braid" and "Wm. Gibson, Kinghorn, Scotland" is stamped on the wide flange. The hosel and the grip are flat as is the shaft, stamped "Gibson Star". The face has dots in a "Pyramid" configuration. A wonderful collectible. G-8 $175-300
LOT #19.....A SCARCE RUT PUTTER. A scarce "The Mac" model putter with a short, very thick blade. Cochrane's "Bow Line Knot" mark is at the toe. Patent numbers at the heel. Shaft has a warp at the grip. G-7 $100-160
LOT #20.....SCARCE J A WILLIAMS, BROOKLYN PUTTER. C-1900 "Metropolitan" rounded back blade Putter with an ASH shaft. Their "W" inside a "Diamond" mark is at the top of the hosel. Replacement sheep skin grip over original listings. Very seldom offered. G-7 $120-220
LOT #21.....UNUSUAL HENDRY & BISHOP MARK. A SUPERB boat shaped blade putter with "X 58" at the heel. The large circular "Hendry & Bishop Plusmore" cleek mark has never been encountered by Peter Geordiady or myself. A remarkable putter! G-9 $190-350
LOT #22.....SLAZENGER SIX POINTED STAR cleek mark on a smooth face Putting Cleek. Shaft and tattered sheep skin grip look original. Very scarce! G-5++ $120-200

LOT #31.....EARLY AMERICAN PUTTER. A circa pre-1900 short hosel straight blade Putter having the scarce rectangular stamp with "Shoverling Dale & Gales, New York" inside. Original looking shaft with fat, built-up grip. A scarce early American collectible. G-5+ $60-100

LOT #37.....A GOOD BRASS PUTTER. C-1900 smooth face brass blade putter stamped "Alex Finley, Bronxville" on the head and "A Finley" on the shaft. Replacement grip over old underlistings. G-6+ $70-120
LOT #38....."SPALDING SPECIAL" on a C-1897 SUPERB Brass head blade putter. The shaft is a dramatic golden ASH and is stamped "Spalding Special" below the old sheep skin grip. About as nice as they come! G-9 $325-550
LOT #39.....A RARE "J GOVAN" OFF SET BLADE "A-1" brass putter. "Pat'd Dec, 07" (Dec. 10, 1907) and "J Govan, St Davids, PA" on the back. See "Ellis, CMA, P-172. G-7 $200-400
LOT #40.....EARLY AMERICAN BRASS BLADE. A circa 1900 straight blade brass putter with "Brazer & Co., Lowell" in block lettering. Very scarce early American maker. Not listed in Georgiady; however, I've had 3 or 4 examples of their forgings over the past 10 years. G-6+ $125.00
LOT #41.....TURN OF THE CENTURY BRASS BLADE. A nice two way Brass blade, C-1900 without stamps on either side. Looks Spalding or BGI. G-7 $60-100

LOT #45.....C-1885-1895 BRASS BLADE PUTTER. Weak, unusual "Castle" mark with monogrammed "W H" letters on back. Replacement shaft. G-6 $100-200
LOT #46.....TWO PUTTERS, ONE BRASS. A flanged back stamped "Gooseneck" and a brass blade with a weak, however readable "BGI" stamp. Both G-5. (2) $70-120

LOT #47.....A MITCHESON LONG NOSE PLAY CLUB circa 1885-1890 with a slightly hooked faced. "W L Mitcheson" on the head and shaft. The whippings at the grip and splice appear to be original. G-8 $850-1500
LOT #48.....A J ANDERSON PLAYCLUB with dark stained beech head. There is a leather toe insert and a small chip from the face above the horn slip. The grip is Kid Skin. Very scarce and desirable. G-7 $1600-2500
LOT #49.....WRIGHT & DITSON SEMI-LONG NOSE. A Circa 1893-1896 Semi-Long Nose pear shaped Play Club stamped "Wright & Ditson" in small script on the head and in microscopic block letters on the shaft. Original grip is tattered. A SIGNIFICANT early American collectible, especially in all original condition except for replaced splice whippings. G-7+ $450-750
LOT #50.....A LUNN & CO LONG NOSE. An interesting circa 1890-95 Transitional Beech head Play Club with "Lunn & Co.", and their "Crossed Clubs Balfor" stamp. Shaft and grip look like originals. What makes this club so interesting, the owner had a club maker (or plumber) cover the whipping with a COPPER SLEEVE eight inches long. Not only will the whipping stay in place, the scare was made absolutely unbreakable. A great conversation piece! Head is G-6, shaft (above the copper) and grip are G-8+ $650-1200
LOT #51....."CROSTHWAITE" BULGER BRASSIE. C-1900 Beech head Bulger Brassie with ram's horn slip between the full brass sole plate and the face. Andrew was on his own for only about the year 1900, most likely when this club was made. He made very few, however, well made clubs for select St. Andrews clients. His wooden head clubs are a RARE find and highly coveted by serious collectors. G-7 $600-1000
LOT #52.....SCOTTISH GOLF CLUB MFG. "SGCMCo Ltd, Edinburgh" is on the honey colored TRANSITIONAL pear shaped head. Very old splice whippings may be original. Sheep skin grip is a replacement. SGCMCo was only in business from 1895-1898 and their clubs are seldom offered and highly collectible. G-7 $400-700
LOT #53.....A GOOD ANDERSON GENERAL IRON. An early General Purpose Iron circa 1870, the large head having a hooked face and thick hosel. The top of blade and hosel join are squared off indicative of early hand forgings. The hosel had long jagged saw tooth nicking which was trimmed when the shaft, bearing Forgan's stamp, was replaced. Anderson's tiny mark is faintly identifyable on the back. A nice example of Andreson's early forgings. G-6 $375-600
LOT #54.....A MID-19th CENTURY GENERAL IRON with squared top of blade and hosel join. The thick hosel is five inches long and has saw tooth nicking. A late feather ball era example most likely C-1860-70. Grip and shaft are replacements. G-6+ $500-1000
LOT #55.....A GOOD 19th CENTURY GENERAL IRON in the John Gray style with large dished face and squared top of blade and hosel join. The hosel pin, barely visible, is high near the nicking also is an indication it is much earlier than the Clan and Ayers irons of 1890. Old sheep skin grip over old listings on a nice, original looking, hickory shaft. My best conservative guess is 1860-70. A nice addition to even an advanced collection. G-7 $600-1000
LOT #56.....A GOOD TRUE RUT IRON c-1880-1885 with the top of blade and hosel join sharply squared. No stampings visible on the back, indicating this may be a Blacksmith made head. The hosel PIN is placed 45 degrees between the normal position and the top of the hosel, which has saw tooth nicking. Nice old sheep skin grip. G-7 $800-1500
LOT #57.....DREADNAUGHT MASHIE NIBLICK. A Giant size head. All original. G-7+ $100-200
LOT #58.....A RARE JOHN GRAY GENERAL IRON with a long, hooked, dished face and five inch hosel with saw tooth nicking. A patch of rust nearly obliterates the "Y" in "Jn Gray". A dramatic circa 1870's club with original looking shaft and sheep skin grip. G-6 $750-1200
LOT #59.....A RARE CARRICK CLEEK with a FULL "F & A Carrick, Musselburgh" stamp above the "Cross" mark. The hosel has short heavy nicking and the shaft is a replacement. G-7+ $600-1000
LOT #60.....A RARE SPALDING WHISTLER Lard Patented perforated shaft "Gold Medal Mashie 1". Both Patent dates are at the toe. All original with grip whippings also possibly original. Nice pure club. G-8+ $2400.-3800

LOT #65.....OUTSTANDING ANTI-SHANK Niblick C-1910-15 stamped "Fairlie Pattern" in block lettering and also having the British "Union Jack" Flag mark near the toe. Nice collectible! G-8 $175-325
LOT #66.....GIBSON ANTI-SHANK. A Virtually MINT Anti-Shank "2 Iron" stamped "J Rowe, Forest Row" with a severe "Crook" in the hosel. A nice display club with Gibson's "Star" mark. G-9 $140-250
LOT #67.....A FORRESTER ANTI-SHANK. A nice Fairlie's Patent compact head Mid-iron with "criss-cross" face. A huge mark consisting of a Thistle, Rose and Three Leaf Clover. G-7 $150-275
LOT #68.....A DONALDSON, GLASGOW SCARCITY. A nice dot punched face Anti-Shank Niblick in the Fairlie's style with Donaldson's large "Range Finder" mark. Shaft is a replacement. G-7+ $120-200
LOT #69.....STEWART ANTI-SHANK. Stewart's "Pipe" mark on a circa 1920 lined face large head Anti-shank "Niblick" with a severe hosel "crook". "Fred Whiting, Sandwich" is stamped on both head and original shaft. An good example of a Stewart Fairlie's Patent Anti-shank iron. Grip is a replacement. G-7 $120-200
LOT #70.....A GIBSON RUSTLESS ANTI-SHANK. A nice "Saville Rustless Smith's Model" Anti-Shank Mid-iron with a severe "crook" in the hosel. Looks all original. G-7+ $150-275
LOT #71.....ANOTHER STEWART ANTI-SHANK. A C-1915-20 Fairlie's Patent with Tom Stewart's "Pipe" mark. G-6 $120-200
LOT #72.....A NO NAME LOFTING IRON. A wide toe smooth face Lofting Iron C-1895 with all stamps "emoried" away by over zealous caddies. Nice face shape. G-7 $70-120
LOT #73.....AN EARLY FORGAN LOFTER. A good C-1890's Lofting Iron with a weak, however readable, Forgan stamp on the back. The original shaft has a full "R Forgan & Sons, St Andrews" stamp below a period type grip over original listing. An inexpensive early example of Forgan's work. G-6 $120-200
LOT #74.....A NICE UTILITY CLUB. A "P A Vaile Stroke Saver" banana shaped Chipper C-1935. Brown plastic coating over a Hickory shaft. Grip is square. G-8 $70-120
LOT #75.....A RARE ANDERSON RUT CLEEK. Anderson's "Arrow" mark points to the toe of a RARE RUT Cleek. The short head measuring just 2 5/8 inches has Centra-ject bulge back weighting and a dot punched face. Replaced shaft with old sheep skin grip. G-7 $300-600.
LOT #76.....A SCARCE RUT NIBLICK. A circa 1895 RUT Niblick stamped "Holdfast, A & N C S" (Army & Navy) and also the small "Anderson, Anstruther" mark. Original shaft is stamped "Army & Navy, C S L". G-5 $190-325.
LOT #77.....AN OUTSTANDING GENERAL IRON exhibiting very little play; however, it does not have any stamps on the back (might never have had any). The head is characteristic Jamie Anderson c-1880 with long, heavy hosel nicking. G-8 $350-600
LOT #78.....OAKHURST APPROVED NIBLICK. "E Foord, Somerset, Burnham" stamped on Stewart's "Pipe" marked smooth face Niblick. Replacement shaft with an old wrapped leather grip. G-6 $100-160
LOT #79.....GIANT HEAD SPADE MASHIE. An outstanding dramatic oversized , deep face "Spade Mashie" with the "Bishop's Hat" mark. C-1915-20 with dot punched face. G-8 $80-140
LOT #80.....WINTON'S DIAMOND MARK on a circa 1910 smooth face Niblick stamped "Ted Ray's Own Niblick" and having a "Diamond Back" weighting design. The pointed toe head is shaped similar to the "Cannon" patent. Shaft and grip originals. G-6 $90-150
LOT #81....."STAR" FACE SCORED MID-IRON c-1915. Five rows of stars makes up the face scoring. G-7 $60-100
LOT #82.....AN OUTSTANDING CLEEK circa 1890-1895 Cleek stamped "Scotsman" in small block letters on the back. The ASH shaft has a "spindle" shape as it enters the hosel. Original looking sheep skin grip. This head has a unique shape. G-7 $150-275

LOT #96.....SPALDING'S TONG BRAND. A Spalding elusive Tong Brand Mid-iron with the blacksmith's "Tongs" on the back. Widely spaced dot punches on the face and the shaft & grip are originals. G-7+ $80-150
LOT #97.....SCARCE ROBERT WHITE CLEEK. A circa 1880 Cleek with the large oval "R White, St. Andrews" stamp partially emoried away by over zealous caddies. "R Whit" is all that is readable on the back. The shaft appears to be something other than Hickory or Ash with a nice sheep skin grip. Shaft and grip are worth $100. alone! G-5++ $120-200
LOT #98.....A SCARCE PETER PAXTON CLEEK. "P Paxton, Tooting Bec" boldly stamped on back of a circa late 19th Century smooth face Cleek with a thick saw tooth nicked hosel. The grip is a buff leather replacement over the original shaft. A nice example. G-7 $225-400
LOT #99....."RTJ" 6 MASHIE BY TOM STEWART, St Andrews. Forman's stamp at the toe. All original and a nice club. G-8 $90-150

LOT #273.....FEATHER BALL C-1850. Nice tight seams with large closing stitch. No maker's name visible as there are two coats of paint on the cover. The first, presumably the original, is gray and can be seen where there are small chips in the slightly lighter cream colored second coat. The second coat looks to have been applied while the ball was still being played. Appears to be a size similar to the balls I have seen inked with 26 or 27 by the maker. G-7+ $3000-5000
LOT #274.....HAND HAMMERED GUTTA PERCHA BALL C-1880 in the Robert Forgan style. Black with original paint only to the line cuts. There are some tiny spots of oxidation which help authenticate. G-6 $600-1000

LOT #279.....MINT SPALDING TRIANGLE PATTERN ball c-1920. Pieces of the original wrapped still adhere to the cover. A near SUPERB example. G-9++ $350-600
LOT #280....."FLASH SPOT" MESH with interesting cover. It looks like silver METALIC paint was used in the recessed squares. When this ball rolls towards the hole on a sunny day, it resembles those diamond lighting devices hung over dance floors...flashes everywhere...hence the name "Flash Spot". Nice ball with one cut in the cover. G-5+ $75-150

LOT #283.....VIRTYALLY MINT McEWAN MID SPOON. A Superb dark stained fruit wood Long Nose with "McEwan" on the circa 1850 head. The neck is graceful and long consistant with other early McEwan, Jackson and Philp true feather ball era examples. Only the slightest imperfections keeps this from G-10! A virtual "Steal" in today's market! Examples of this quality brought £4,000-£7,000 ($7500.-$13,000.) in the early to mid 1990's! $3800-6500
